The mountains outside our window
Mistfell begins in Xingyi, in the karst highlands of Guizhou, southwest China — a UNESCO Global Geopark where cone-shaped peaks rise out of the mist. It is a mineral-rich place with deep craft traditions, and it is where Mistfell started.
The name
Why “Mistfell”?
A fell is an old word for a mountain — the kind of bare, weathered peak you find in the north of England. Our fells are further away: the karst peaks of Guizhou, south-west China, where thousands of green summits rise out of the morning mist at Wanfenglin, the Ten-Thousand Peak Forest. It is where our makers live and work, and where every bracelet begins. Mistfell is simply that landscape, folded into a name: mist over the fells.
What we make
Bracelets, made by hand
Mistfell makes crystal and natural-stone bracelets, each strung by hand and made in small numbers or one of a kind. Every piece is made by a real, named maker, and we choose work for character over polish.
Our first makers are local women here in Xingyi, working with the colour and craft heritage of our Buyi and Miao home. As Mistfell grows, we are opening the door to more creators across China.
How we describe things
Plainly, and by the maker’s name
We describe each piece plainly — what it is, what it is made of, and who made it. We make no claims of age, rarity, healing, or medical or spiritual effect. Just honest handmade work, from the people and the place that made it.
